KC Newsletter! June 2025

man it's hot

This issue: AY WE GOT A DRAFT BAYBEEE. Otherwise, mostly reminders about supporter logistics.

This month’s finances and what all got done!

I got all the summer postcard bundles drawn and assembled and sent out, four new comic pages posted, and! The novel is drafted!! We’re DOING IT things are HAPPENING

We got a couple new folks for the first time in a hot minute! My income is now at 891 per month, we’re only a few dollars off from the goal I set back in December! I’ve been (barely, but it counts) making rent money for a few months, but the 900 milestone would definitely feel like an accomplishment. I suppose if we get there I’ll start discussing the next one! Wowiee

Let’s go!

Postcards!

The summer postcards are on their way! As always I’ll wait ‘til next month to discuss the actual contents, but get excited for mail!

💥💥THE NOVEL IS DRAFTED YEAAAAAAAH💥💥

It exists, I can read straight through it!! That doesn’t mean it’s good yet, I’m still polishing it up enough for beta readers, which is the next step on my little publishing roadmap. But I’m super psyched! Working on the comic so regularly I sort of forget I’m actually pretty bad at finishing things. At around 143k words, GttC is by far the longest prose project I’ve ever seen through to the end. Ideally that wordcount will decrease while I’m tightening screws, but man I’m just happy to be here.

I’m not looking for more editing help, but here’s a reminder that if you’d like to be an advance reader in exchange for a review (an honest one, not necessarily a positive one!) you can email me to get on the list! If you need a reminder about the details and expectations for advance reading and/or the aforementioned roadmap, I talked about it a lot in last month’s letter.

Gettin’ close y’all!! I’m so excited!!

Impending Book Release

With a new book coming out in the next few months (hopefully) now is the time to get on the book club list if that’s something you want to be part of. Ten dollars a month gets you your own physical and digital copy of anything I publish while you’re pledging, but since that shit gets expensive and I can’t afford for folks to abuse the system, I generally require a couple of payments to go through before I start sending these sorts of mail rewards. That means about now is when you’d want to get your support set up! You can find details about all the different tiers on my ko-fi page, but I do also take recurring donations through paypal if that’s something you’d prefer to do (there is also, technically, Patreon, but for both our sakes I would highly encourage one of the other options.) If you choose to go the paypal route and want to participate in rewards, make sure you email me your mailing address!

Speaking of mailing addresses: If you aren’t getting your postcards, your address has probably been marked as Not Functional on my side, and that means you won’t get any books either! If you’re worried, send me an email and I can confirm what address I have for you or update your info. If you’re cool with this arrangement, no action is required.

Less Urgent since we went through this not too long ago and most of y’all were here for it, make sure your screenname wherever you’re pledging matches what you want your book credit to be! I don’t use anyone’s payment information for their names. If you’d like your credit to be something completely different from any of your forward facing info, or you need to change it from what it was last time in volume 4, send me an email! You can also opt out of having a credit entirely, of course.

State of the Artist

I’ve been going to the library more lately! Can you believe libraries are real. It feels illegal every time I go.

I hope you had a good June, and I hope you’re enjoying the appropriately gay shit going on in the comic lately! Things will not be this calm again for quite some time.

Look forward to it!
-Aria
